About Matthew
Matthew was a bright and quiet soul. He believed in many things, but always believed in being kind. Not just to people, but to any living thing.
Many things would make Matthew laugh. Laughter was Matthew's best medicine. He often looked up to comedians like Robin Williams and Jim Carrey. But most of the time he was trying to make everyone around him laugh. He loved making people smile and giving everyone a reason to be happy.
I don’t think there was ever a time when Matthew didn’t show up for anyone. You told him you needed him for anything, and he would be there to do whatever was needed. Matthew was the type of person that he would give the shirt off his back and give it to you if he needed to. Of everyone, Matthew was the most dependable person for anyone who needed him.
Matthew was diagnosed with epilepsy in 2010 when he was in high school at the age of 15, like his mother, Jennifer Martinez. Matthew struggled at the beginning of his journey, just like anyone would. But Matthew was happily seizure-free for 10+ years. He was finally able to obtain his driver's license at the age of 30 and got the car that he named “Valkyrie” off of the Avengers.
Matthew was our superhero in many ways to so many people. Donating to the Epilepsy Foundation would mean the world to his family and friends, as it was something Matthew would never ask of people, but it would mean the world to him.
